What is the best smartphone? 7 reasons why I love the BlackBerry Pearl
What is the best smartphone? Asking 5 people will likely yield 5 different responses. Upon acquiring my first smartphone two months ago I thoroughly researched all major smartphone makers: Palm, BlackBerry, HTC, Motorola, and, of course, the iPhone from Apple.
This article will share my smartphone requirements, and the 6 reasons why I chose the BlackBerry Pearl.
Selecting a smartphone based on individual requirements will be very subjective, as one requirement may be critically important to some, but not even a consideration to others. Following is my list of requirements from most to least important:
- form factor
- music player
- stereo bluetooth
- ease of use
- integration with desktop
- reliability
- features
- battery life
- camera/video
Without getting into the reasons why other smartphones did not satisfy my need, here are the 7 reasons why the BlackBerry Pearl won out, in no particular order.
- Form factor! - The Pearl is approximately the size of the Moto Razr
- Outstanding battery life
- Availability of Google apps - Maps (with live traffic), Docs, Reader, wireless 2-way integration between Google Calendar and BB Calendar
- Suitable music player with stereo bluetooth capability
- 2 megapixel camera
- seamless integration with desktop / email
- one-hand usage
There’s no question the best feature on this phone is its form factor. What I did not want was a phone that I would not be able to easily put into my pocket. Another key benefit is the ability to use it with one-hand, which is something one cannot achieve with a touchscreen device.
What did I miss?
