Review: Capresso MT500 Coffee Maker
I have never been one to drink coffee for the kick. The flavor and social aspect of enjoying a cup of coffee are my reasons for enjoying the hot beverage. With that in mind, the coffee maker plays an important role, as do the tips I alluded to in my post on 5 basics to a great cup of coffee. I have tried them all over the years: Krups, Braun, Cuisinart, Gevalia, etc., but the one that is clearly a cut above the rest is the Capresso MT500.
The following features are my reasons for preferring this machine:
- stainless steel thermal vacuum carafe
- brews HOT
- no space from filter basket to carafe
- fast brewing cycle (under 8 minutes for full 10 cups)
- auto shut off
- brew cycle for smaller (3-5 cups) pots
- great cup of coffee
In addition, the coffee maker features a charcoal water filter and notifies you when it needs replacing.
While expensive ($179.99 MSRP), the coffee maker should likely last for years. Its sturdy aluminum alloy construction is not only durable, but stylish. The stainless steel-lined heating system eliminates any contact with aluminum and greatly reduces the need for decalcifying.
I’d like to learn experiences from others with coffee makers not mentioned here.
